Candle Range Theory

Candle Range Theory is the founding intellectual contribution of Rare Brilliance. It is a framework for understanding market behavior through candle ranges and the relationships among them.

Origin

The foundation came first

Before CRT had terminology, laws, or a finished framework, there was a pursuit to understand whether an underlying order existed in price. The theory developed through years of observation, trading experience, questioning, refinement, and efforts to explain recurring relationships. Perception often preceded language; articulation became part of the work of making those relationships clear enough to examine and teach.

Founder’s worldview

The founder’s account of discovery

The founder’s Christian worldview shaped the questions and posture through which he approached the market. Within that account, he understood the work as an attempt to describe an order he believed preceded his observation of it. This is part of CRT’s origin history and the founder’s interpretation of his responsibility. It is distinct from the technical claims of CRT, which remain subject to examination through their observations, principles, structure, and application.

Development

From observation to framework

Pursuit→Observation→Perception→Recognition→Language→Principles→Framework→Laws→Continued examination

The XII Laws emerged after years of observation and development. They represent an effort to articulate governing relationships within a coherent framework. CRT remains open to clearer explanation, testing, challenge, and refinement.

Relationship to Rare Brilliance

A contribution, not the whole institution

CRT preceded Rare Brilliance as an institution. It became the institution’s founding intellectual contribution and helped raise the question of what kind of institution could preserve and continue work of this kind. Rare Brilliance is not reducible to CRT; its mission extends beyond any one contribution.
